Parks and Recreation
The Centralia Parks and Recreation offers a wide variety of services and facilities for the citizens of the City.

Parks and Recreation offers opportunities for creative, wholesome and enjoyable leisure activities for individuals, families, and the community. It formulates, stimulates and encourages frequent and regular communications with the community in order to assure that programs, goals and objectives are consistent with community needs and desires.
Park and open space acreage totals 240 acres. Facilities include:
- Outdoor swimming pool
- Outdoor wading pool
- 9 baseball/softball fields (6 lighted)
- Youth and regulation size soccer fields
- 5 picnic shelters
- 2 indoor kitchens
- Natural area consisting of 71.7 acres and 2.2 miles of trails
- Youth fishing lake
- River and lake access points
- Historic Borst Home and blockhouse
- Rhododendron gardens and arboretum
- 8 outdoor tennis courts
- 2 outdoor basketball courts
- "Freedom Walk" memorial
- Plummer Lake car-top boat launch
- Multi Purpose Room

- A replica one room schoolhouse in Fort Borst Park
Recreation opportunities available include: numerous youth and adult softball and baseball leagues and tournaments; youth and adult soccer; youth sport camps; youth and adult basketball; adult volleyball; youth arts/cultural programs; annual Arts Jamboree; youth craft activities; youth wrestling; youth and adult tennis lessons and tournaments; and racquetball to swimming activities offered through Thorbecke's Fitlife Center (360)736-1683. Several community special events are held each year including: Summerfest; Centralia to Chehalis Bike Ride; Seattle to Portland Bike Ride; Hershey Track and Field Meet; City All Comers Track Meet and the Lions Club Youth Fishing Derby in Borst Park.
The Parks Maintenance Division is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the City's parks and recreation facilities/buildings, which encompasses approximately 240 acres and 80,000 square feet of building space. The city has eleven main structures and numerous smaller buildings which all require maintenance and upkeep. Other functions include maintaining the City street trees and downtown parking lots.
The Administration Division coordinates all aspects of the department, receiving advisory input from the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and direction from the City Manager. Functions include planning, policy formulation and implementation, staff development and leadership, budget development and financial monitoring and accountability.
Washington Lawn Cemetery (located at the corner of Washington and Maple Streets) is operated and maintained by the City.
